Marie-Nicole Lemieux - Contralto
It's no surprise that Marie-Nicole Lemieux now shines in the firmament of world singing: both as a singer and as a woman, she radiates that aura that belongs only to the very best!
The fullness of her voice, her magnificently held line and her flawless virtuosity have enabled her to triumph in a variety of repertoires. Her early career was marked by Baroque music (Orpheus and Eurydice, Giulio Cesare, Orlando Furioso...).
The development of her voice soon enabled her to tackle the French repertoire of the 19th century (Les Troyens, Samson et Dalila, Carmen, Werther...), Rossini (Tancredi, L'Italiana in Algeri...) and Verdi (Falstaff, Il Trovatore, Un Ballo in Maschera...).
The breadth of her vocal range also makes her an outstanding recitalist, and an acknowledged interpreter of French, Russian and German Lieder. Recent and future projects include Carmen (title role) at the Chorégies d'Orange, Falstaff (Quickly) at New York's Metropolitan Opera and the Paris Opéra, Der Ring des Nibelungen (Fricka and Erda) at La Monnaie and the Paris Opéra... Concert appearances include Orlando Furioso with Ensemble Matheus, Le Poème de l'amour et de la mer with Orchestre National de Bordeaux, Verdi's Requiem with Gürzenich Orchester Cologne, and tours with Les Violons du Roy, Les Epopées and Les Siècles.
David Blumenthal - Pianist
Born in Landstuhl (Germany), American-born Daniel Blumenthal began his musical studies at the age of 5, graduating from the University of Michigan (Bachelor of Music) and the Juilliard School in New York (Master of Music, Doctor of Musical Arts). He has won several international competitions: Sydney and Leeds in 1981, Geneva and Busoni in 1982, and the Queen Elisabeth Competition in 1983. Internationally acclaimed as a soloist, concert and chamber musician, Daniel Blumenthal also teaches piano at the Brussels Conservatory and at the Thy Chamber Music Festival in Denmark. In 1995, he was a member of the jury of the Queen Elisabeth Piano Competition.
