Muriel MAYETTE-HOLTZ

Director

Muriel Mayette-Holtz is a member of the Académie des beaux-arts, an actress, and a theatre director.

A former student of Michel Bouquet, Claude Régy, and Bernard Dort, she taught at the Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique from 2000 to 2006. After training at the Conservatoire, she joined the Comédie-Française as an actress in 1985 and was named its 477th sociétaire in 1988. She worked with directors such as Matthias Langhoff and Jacques Lassalle, performed major classical plays, and directed over forty productions. In August 2006, she became the first woman to lead the troupe of the Comédie-Française as its general administrator, a position she held until July 2014.

She then directed the Villa Medici in Rome before being appointed director of the Théâtre National de Nice, CDN Nice Côte d’Azur on August 2, 2019. She was inducted into the Académie des beaux-arts in the seat of Maurice Béjart in May 2017 and was elected Director of the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild by her peers in October 2022.
